Lights Out

Lights out
at the top of the world.
A power outage
that plunges my small room
into darkness.

“A darkness that
matches
my mood.”

That’s how I planned
to end this poem,
with the above,
as a second verse.

But I did not,
because writing poems
by flashlight
seemed pretentious enough
already.
